The Fayetteville NIGHT JAM, a night
water ski competition and show, was held at the Cedar Creek Water
Ski Park under the lights in conjunction with the South Central
Region Water Ski Championships, 1-3 August. Local water skiers
helped to raise nearly $2000 for Restore Humanity a local
humanitarian outreach organization which is currently raising funds
to build an orphanage project in Kenya (www.restorehumanity.org).
The event opened with the McQueeney Ski Bees of McQueeney, TX in a
flag line while Alexis Wilkins of Fayetteville, AR sang the national
anthem. |
The night progressed with the wake
competition. This event pitted the areas top wake boarders, wake
skaters & trick skiers against one another. The eight invited
competitors rode down and back twice and three judges scored the
wake competition on a scale of 1-10 based on the “cool factor.” The
athlete with the highest score and winner of the $250 purse was Kyle
Nightingale of Scapula, OK. Kyle amazed the audience with a series
of one-handed flips and completed 12 back flips in less than 30
seconds.
