Junior Development Scholarships
If you know a deserving junior, please have them complete the SCR Scholarship Application and mail to all committee members prior to November 1, 2008. The scholarships will be awarded after the first of the year. We will award 10 ski school scholarships valued at $300 each. The application/instructions are available on the Junior Development page of this site.

The SCR Junior Development Committee selected our 2007 Junior Water Ski Team at the conclusion of Regionals. We also selected our National All Star Team that will compete at the 2007 Goode Water Ski Nationals in Bakersfield, California. The skiers on our National team will combine their top scores against teams from the other regions around the country. The winning region will be announced during the junior awards ceremony on the Friday evening of Nationals.

Each of our 2007 Junior A & B Team members received a medal recognizing their accomplishment and a rash guard with the regional logo screened on the back. The 44 rash guards were donated by Donnie Covington and Lori Krueger. Please acknowledge their contribution when you see them.

Chip Chipman / MasterCraft have once again donated $500 for the purchase of t-shirts for our Junior Development weekend. Thank you again, Chip for your continuing support of our junior skiers.

Our 2008 Junior Development weekend will be hosted by Princeton Lakes in the DFW area. The dates will be July 11-13, 2008. Please plan on attending.  Princeton did a great job in hosting the 2006 event and we look forward to a bigger and better event this year.  Please make plans to attend and let all of the junior skiers in your area know about this wonderful opportunity. Look for details in the Regional Guide and on this site as they become available.

Paul Armour of Plano, Texas won the 2007 Junior Development Ski Raffle. Committee member Rick Malak sold the winning ticket for the third year in a row! Thank you to all who purchased raffle tickets.

JUNIOR DEVELOPMENT NEWS

Joe Darwin August 7, 2007 Congratulations to all our junior skiers who participated in Regionals. We had 70 junior skiers compete this year. Good luck to all who will be competing at Nationals. I want to thank the entire Tri-Lakes staff for hosting the event. Thank you to all who purchased raffle tickets this year.  I also want to recognize Donny Covington for purchasing the A & B Team rash guards again this year. The support our program receives from the region is tremendous. Remember that the 2008 Junior Development Scholarship application must be completed and mailed to all committee members prior to November 1, 2007. If you have any questions or need assistance, please email me. Our 2008 Junior Development weekend will be hosted by Princeton Lakes in the DFW area. The Junior Development Program was developed to promote junior skiers’ participation in three-event water skiing. This is accomplished through Junior Development clinics, special tournaments and awards to recognize our junior skiers. We strive to encourage good sportsmanship and conduct at tournaments and increase the skill level of each athlete.

At the Regional Banquet we will honor our A and B Teams. To qualify for selection to these teams, a skier must participate in both the Junior Development Tournament and the Regional Championship. We will also recognize the most improved skier in each division and select our National Team to represent the region at the National Championships.
